  • Do you have any advice to a couple that wants to combine income to pay bills? I have not ever combined income?

with another person to take care of all the household expenses. Is there any method you use for budgeting and keeping track of all the joint expenses? How can I transition smoothly from just my income to sharing 2 incomes?Do you have any advice to a couple that wants to combine income to pay bills? I have not ever combined income?
Probably the simplest way to do it is to figure out how much your joint expenses will be each month. Then open a joint checking account and each put in enough money so that the total is enough to cover the joint expenses. You can either split everything 50/50 or, to be a little more fair, put in money proportionate to how much you earn. So if you make twice as much as your partner, you would put in 2/3 of the money to cover the joint expenses and your partner would put in the other 1/3.

Good software programs for personal finance and budgeting are Quicken and Microsoft Money.Do you have any advice to a couple that wants to combine income to pay bills? I have not ever combined income?
I'm doing that right now...My husband thinks because there are 2 checks that means there is more money to spend..The most important thing is to keep a joint acct for ONLY household bills. That way only the mortgage, utilities, groceries and such are coming out of that acct. Then each of you needs a separate acct for saving or whatever. That is the plan I am currently working on.
1 makes the budget the other gets an allowance
Get a joint account. Consider the money in it as belonging to both of you.
This is tricky. I would avoid a joint checking account. Split the bills 50/50 and then pay them accordingly. In other words, if one person pays rent of $500, then the other pays utilities and groceries up to $500. Keep running tabs each month of who has paid for what, and be sure you agree at the beginning about what expenses will be combined (lightbulbs, lawn care) and what will not be (manicures or car insurance). Good luck!
You said couple-- if married then a joint account works. If not then open a joint account that requires two signatures on checks to be valid. Then put your share in. When bills are due the money is there to cover them.
Make sure any purchases are very clearly made by one or the other. This will be a big deal if you split. If one of you owns the home, draw up and sign a rental agreement. Otherwise, you could each write a check for each bill, decide who will pay for which expenses, or one of you pay all the bills and the other write a check for half of the total. For utilities and whatnot, you may want to get both names on the account. Just be sure that if you split, your belongings are clearly yours and not ';joint funded';.
We got a cash book and write down everything that comes in and goes out. It has helped us a lot and we have been doing this for the past 4 years. As our bills increased, we got a white board and make a spread sheet of the bills, their due date, and the amount and pay some at each pay period. Good luck!
Direct deposit both paychecks into the joint account. Decide on a weekly allowance for both of you ($50-100). Pay all bills from this account. You should discuss any major purchases. This is what marriage is all about. Don't forget to save for retirement as well (IRAs, 401K). Get rid of the individual accounts. Keeping track of expenses in different accounts is a major pain. It can also lead to fights about money, which accounts for 70% of the divorces in the US.
Well it is like this, The two of you need to set down together and write down all Bill's and there amonths that has to be paid each month. Now If you are not In AGREEMENT to paying anything of just paying what you have, meaning YOUR BILLS ONLY (if any). YOU WOULD NEED TO BE HONEST w/your Partner. By being honest then your partner will know just where you stand. Example: If I just had my car note and I work and that is all I wanted to pay or could pay then something is wrong if I want to get my hair/nails,eat out. And have money to take care of this but I want my partner to pay/bye me things PLUS PAY ALL the BILLS. Now If my Partner is doing just what I mention about self and I am LEFT TO PAY ALL HOUSE HOLD BILLS PLUSE bye him whatever he wants and he just BLOWS his MONEY ON OTHERS or Other Things. Then This Would be A PROBLEM for me, My Point In EVERY Relationship good/bad. If any couple plan to LIVE TOGETHER, then It is ONLY fare to SHARE the BILLS by Spilting them up. Now Unless you MARRY or Get with somebody who Is RICH/Wealthy. Then You can DO what ever w/your MONEY and THE HELL with Never having to Worry about bills anymore, And Please LOOK ME UP, Because I will be wishing I had it like you. LOL Take Care and just know that this day and time It just about takes Two Incomes to SURVIVE. If you may be having an ISSUE with paying bills hey this is Natual but my advice to you, MARRY RICH or get with somebody that WANTS to TAKE CARE OF YOU and DO NOT NEED YOUR HELP. Take Care, Sign YOUR HARD WORKING FEMALE THAT PAYS HER BILLS. LOL

Can you offer any advice about overcoming writing anxiety?

I have experienced a crippling anxiety about writing my last year and a half of college. I can pinpoint when and why this started to occur, but can't seem to move beyond it. Basically what happens is I'm assigned a paper to write, and I have great ideas, but somewhere between my brain and my hand or my lips, it gets lost. I've tried outlines, notecards, dictation, free-writing, everything. I am a paper and a half away from graduating, but I just don't feel like I can do it. I can't stay focused, get irritated with my senseless rambling, and think my writing is no good - which couldn't be further from the truth. It's not a question of intelligence, aptitude, or ability. I just feel stuck... and I don't have time to explore all of the bio-psycho-sociological why's and wherefore's. I just need to get it done, and, here's the kicker, done well. Any advice?

P.S. Yes, I'm a perfectionist. That's a definite problem. Can you offer any advice about overcoming writing anxiety?
Severed Conciousness - Let me outline the problem - then give a remedy I would say you have 1 of 2 issues preventing you from moving forward. Or perhaps a combination of the 2.

1 - You are afraid of success - so you procrastinate. You say your writing IS good, but feel that its rubbish. Remedy - Dont write anything or attempt to write anything for 2 days. Stop writing anything at all. Get a big , blank sheet of paper A1 size or bigger if possible. Have paint to hand - Red , yellow , blue and white. A brush and water to mix - dont use oil - get acrylic.Stare at the paper untill you feel an urge to paint it with something-try not to paint a picture you can recognise- eg not cats or people or things - go abstract - this shouldn`t take long - use the opposite hand of choice ie if you are right handed paint using the left- if no urge arrives, start with blue and feel the paint as it takes to the paper. Dont think shapes or reality here, just put paint on the paper. You will probably fill it quickly. Get another sheet and paint that. Paint untill the paper has no more to say. When youre done. Pack them away.Next day do it again Next day read comic books ar do something only fun, watch a movie etc.

Next day - before you write , Look at the blank sheet of paper. Visualize the point you are making in a thought and how all your work and summizing reaches the point. Find a starting place , then write. When you are writing, if the voice of procastination pops up suggesting your writing is rubbish, or you are on the wrong track, counter it with self belief. I can give the answer as to why this works when you have finished writing your papers. It really works.

2 - You love to leave things for the last minute and only the pressure of a real deadline will urge you into action. Solution

Wait untill the last possible moment to start writing - after using Solution 1Can you offer any advice about overcoming writing anxiety?
    I think this sentence is the clue: ';I can pinpoint when and why this started to occur, but can't seem to move beyond it.';

You will need professional help to find what happened to cause this turning point that you can't move beyond. This is stifling you because you don't want to remember something or someone.
I'm a perfectionist too! So I feel your pain!Sounds to me,like a typical perfectionist, you are thinking way to much into this. Just write! Have someone check it for you..its part of writing a paper just revising. So..just write whatever you think you should..then go back later, and if it doesn't make since..switch it around, take some out, add some in. And if worse comes to worse..get some other people to help you. My friends always have my revise their paper..and it makes them feel so much better. And most importantly..write about something you like.
Being a perfectionist isn't that bad; however, it does get in the way when you overlook everything! Its like the last year of High School, you are so anxious to be done, and your mind constantly reminds you of that. I'm also very close to graduating and it is relieving to know that, but its also very frustrating to deal with the anxiety in everyday life on your way towards success. Just be mellow and let things go as they do....Let friends read over your paper's and don't underestimate their opinions. Generally things are done right the first time around.
    When you say you know the reason for the anxiety, you can pinpoint it, just use that as a writing subject. Since you didn't say what it was, lets just use the example of ';I froze up during an essay exam, and flunked, and blew my A average.';

Assuming this, use that as your subject and write about it. Are you so afraid to fail again that you are afraid to try? What are the benefits to not writing...that you can stay in school longer, that you won't have to become a doctor/lawyer/teacher? What is the worst thing that could happen if you don't write a paper? What are the good things that could happen if you do? What is the worst thing that would happen if it isn't perfect?????????

Writing about the problem will likely bring it out. No fair checking punctuation as you go, no sentence structure analysis....just type. Or write. You will likely find the answer in your writing. Personally, I find that typing with my eyes closed brings out my fears and problems, and then I write in journals in longhand about the solutions.

Since you have the knowledge and skill, once you get to the root of the problem, you can get past it. So make that the goal of your writing. Maybe you need to take a semester off and try working in your desired field, and make sure that is what you truly want to do. My dime store analysis is that you probably fear graduating and going on into that field more than writing a paper.

Also, realizing that you aren't perfect is a toughie. You are probably harder on yourself than any of your professors or employers will ever be. You can still excel without being totally perfect, and you won't be beating yourself up constantly for missing a point or two... Once you start realizing that you can do a very good job and get a B, and accept that as okay, you will enjoy life much more.
It's writers block. It's all your potential waiting to explode. I've written poems that were so good they were offered publishing. But I turned it down. There was too much pain to give up my writing, because I could only write a good poem maybe twice every three years. Being a writer doesn't mean you can constantly perform. I've even corresponded to professional columnists who would rather respond with a meager reply and agree, just to be able to get a fresh point of view. You've choosen a difficult field to work in and these are the ramifications you have to deal with. You either have it, or you don't. Besides, most people who go to college for a paticular subject, end up working in a different field anyway. Be free. be wild. and run with your emotions all over the paper. You'll know in the end if it's all right for you.

Professionals, does it tick you off when people on here ask for advice?

Cause I was just thinking, I've been asking some questions that require the opinion of someone who really knows what they are doing. So, essentially, I am getting for free what you usually would charge people for. Are you mad? P.S. I know I shouldn't rely on Answers for life-changing decisions, but it really helps to get me thinking about different aspects of the situation! Thank you to any professional who gives people information out of the kindness of their heart.Professionals, does it tick you off when people on here ask for advice?
Well, they don't get in-depth info {from me} and if they need serious or complex info I usually tell them to talk to xyz professional. MOst are pretty simple questions anyway (that could be answered for free by google).

Please give me an advice & Is everything possible when you believe in yourself?

My dream is to become a singer and I am learning the piano right now..

I am writing a lyrics too, but I scare to fail on this, that I wont be a singer..

And waste my time on it... other idea is to become an actor, / a movie maker.. Do You think I should try??? Is really everything possible when You believe in Yourself?? So, should I try??? Please help me, and advice me, I would be really thankful. Please give me an advice %26amp; Is everything possible when you believe in yourself?
Believing in yourself is important. But KNOWING yourself is just as important. Know your potentials, limitations, and capabilities. Do you have the capabilities and the resources to become a singer/actor/movie maker? Because things like that don't just come easily. You have to work for them. I don't just mean working hard and practicing or whatever. You need to have the financial resources to pursue those things. Education and/or proper training will also help. Even extremely talented people sometimes have to work hard to even get noticed.

So do I think that EVERYTHING is possible when you believe in yourself? In the absolute sense, NO. Because if that were the case, then almost everyone in the world will be living his/her dreams.

Rather, I believe that everything WITHIN your capabilities and limitations is possible. You gotta truly know yourself first to help you figure out the vastness of the possibilities. Please give me an advice %26amp; Is everything possible when you believe in yourself?
This is so hard to answer but I will try. All things are *possible* if you believe in yourself, however, nothing is ever *guaranteed* despite belief or whatever.

The more you believe in yourself, the longer you will try and the more confident you will be, and the more possible it will be that you will succeed.

You have several things you are trying, and that is best. If one doesn't work out, another may. It is more likely to be successful when you try many things. I don't think it is a waste of time, no matter what. Of course you should try. No question about it.

    Best of luck.
i think you should have a plam B, that is a very hard indutry to get into soo you need to keep going to school. its good that your learning new things like piano and that your writting lyrics, not everyone can do that soo just keep on doing what you have to do

What's the best advice you can give for first-time snowboarders?

going snowboardig for the first time. any advice? What's the best advice you can give for first-time snowboarders?
lessons are good... Expensive.. i taught several friends and my wife.... before you do anything learn how to get in and out of your bindings... i showed my wife how to get in, get out, and stand up... she did it a few times in the living room and when we got to the slopes she didnt need to waste time learning how to do it there.... second learn how to plow (preferably heel edge) after you perform the falling leaf a few times (back and forth) down the slope plowing you will learn how to stop.. after that just point (with your finger) where you want to go, doing that turns your shoulders and when you turn your shoulders it turns your hips and your board follows... do that a few times and the whole carving thing will soon follow... Granted these are not ';advanced'; tips but they do work. What's the best advice you can give for first-time snowboarders?
don't give up. no matter how pissed off you get because you keep falling.
my only tip is.. ski instead. lol
Stay balenced, keep in contact with the board and the snow.
I just learned last year, and everyone kept stressing to me that if (when) I fall not to put my hands in front or behind me b/c you could seriously hurt your wrists. As far as technique when you are on the board your legs are slightly bent, you butt is kind of tucked in and your heels are back. Good Luck!!
    Don't fall (Sorry, couldn't resist)
Take lessons. Don't give up on the first day because the first day suck big ones for everyone and they feel like they never want to try it again.
bend your knees, keep in control, stay at a speed your comfortable with
when you fall dont put your hands in back of you to catch your self its a good way to sprain your wrists
Get some hip/butt pads like football players wear and wrist guards like for Rollerblading, and be prepared to fall...a bunch.
wear plenty of pads and keep your weight in the center of your skis.

If you accidentally dump a can of soda on your game console, what should you do? Where do you find this advice

If you accidentally dump a can of soda on your game console, what should you do? Where do you find this advice? If you accidentally dump a can of soda on your game console, what should you do? Where do you find this advice
Personally I would unplug it (!) then open it up (if possible) and then in any case dip it in fresh water a few times to dissolve the sugar and wipe with a soft cloth and let it dry thoroughly. like for a couple of days. It should be ok.

If it's diet soda then there won't be any sugar, but I would still want to wash it out I think. If you accidentally dump a can of soda on your game console, what should you do? Where do you find this advice
Unplug all cords, make sure no liquids got in the vents or seeped into cracks etc. Than clean off all the soda on the exterior. If no soda got in the vents you should be fine, but if it did you may need to send it in to the manufacture (ie. Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo) but make sure to clean it up as soon as possible as in pretty much right when you read this.
take it apart and wipe it with a kind of wet towel and dry it with another towel. i did that and it worked
DO NOT turn the console on. instead, unplug it immediately. If there's no electricity flowing through the cords, it can't short out. Next, open it up(if it's off warranty). try and clean up as much as you can inside of the machine with a damp rag, trying to not add any moisture. next, put it under a fan for about 24 hours. put it back together and try it out. if it doesn't work, you fried something before you even touched it. Good luck with that! Hope I helped!
my friend dropped a can of soda on my xbox. i opened it up wiped it down and let it dry. and it still works to this day and that happened about 1%26amp;1/2 yrs ago. it shouldn't do much damage unless it got on some pretty electric stuff.
