Personally I would unplug it (!) then open it up (if possible) and then in any case dip it in fresh water a few times to dissolve the sugar and wipe with a soft cloth and let it dry thoroughly. like for a couple of days. It should be ok.
If it's diet soda then there won't be any sugar, but I would still want to wash it out I think. If you accidentally dump a can of soda on your game console, what should you do? Where do you find this advice
Unplug all cords, make sure no liquids got in the vents or seeped into cracks etc. Than clean off all the soda on the exterior. If no soda got in the vents you should be fine, but if it did you may need to send it in to the manufacture (ie. Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo) but make sure to clean it up as soon as possible as in pretty much right when you read this.
take it apart and wipe it with a kind of wet towel and dry it with another towel. i did that and it worked
DO NOT turn the console on. instead, unplug it immediately. If there's no electricity flowing through the cords, it can't short out. Next, open it up(if it's off warranty). try and clean up as much as you can inside of the machine with a damp rag, trying to not add any moisture. next, put it under a fan for about 24 hours. put it back together and try it out. if it doesn't work, you fried something before you even touched it. Good luck with that! Hope I helped!
my friend dropped a can of soda on my xbox. i opened it up wiped it down and let it dry. and it still works to this day and that happened about 1%26amp;1/2 yrs ago. it shouldn't do much damage unless it got on some pretty electric stuff.
