Take paper..cut the paper out to the size of your pictures. Can even write on the paper what pict. it is. Then you can take the papers and tape them on the wall - this way you can rearrange without putting a million holes in the wall.Have you any advice on how to hang pictures?I want to cover my walls with pictures with as little space as?
To avoid the pitfalls of nails hitting wires as warned, try usin liquid nails apply to the frame and stick them to the wall, and Bobs your uncle
We have several large groupings of pictures. We have always used the ';lay the pictures out on the floor'; approach as has all ready be suggested.

If you have a step ladder you can use it to get a better look at how the arrangement will look.
I'm the type of person who gets bored with something in the same spot for too long, so i use the sticky hooks that you can pull off whenever and move. That way you don't have to worry about ruining the walls underneath. If you want as little space as possible use different sized pictures so they fit together well. Or if you want to use photos there are packs you can get at a few shops with various sized frames.
you can buy picture frame collages as big as 3' x4'

If you want to use your own frames i would get a thin piece of 1/8 plywood and very small screws 5/8 inches long. and screw the frames to the plywood through the back. then attach to plywood to the wall with a couple screws to the studs would be the best. This will save your walls and leave the frames butted together.
Arrange your layout on the floor first to find the most appealing look first...saves unnecessary nails in the wall.
Yeah, if you're putting nails into the wall, check for pipes and wiring first.
