I am almost done with school (Going for Journalism) and I am thinking of moving to Puerto Rico. I just want to a change for once and need some advice that anyone might give me. I plan on visiting next year to see if I like it. What Are the Best Cities to live in and who has the best nightlifeDo you have any Advice for a 27 year old male thinking of Moving to Puerto Rico for the United States?
If you are in journalism check out these pages of English newspaper; http://www.caribbeanbusinesspr.com/ and there is a brand new newspaper called Daily Sun http://www.forbes.com/feeds/ap/2008/10/22/ap5588952.html
On radio there is also Radio WOSO, and in reality in Spanish helps a lot but in the San Juan area someone who only knows English might have better chances than someone who knows only Spanish.
If you want a good time and super laid back ambiance move to Vieques, its probably the town with the biggest percentage of ex-pats. Culebra, Isabela, Rincon and Cabo Rojo are full of ex pats as well.
But the most complete city is by far San Juan. Great food, good beaches, good night life, arts, entertainment, interesting people, etc...Do you have any Advice for a 27 year old male thinking of Moving to Puerto Rico for the United States?
Well best nightlife Hands Down like six thirty is San Juan. My best advice would be to yea first check it out make sure you like it. A lot of ppl visit and like it for a vacation place but not to live in. Its really laid back for the most part. Some areas have a lot of crime. A lot of murders happen but thats between gangs n ****. jus like every other city tho...i think it has gotten better tho. I would make sure you can afford to live there too. jobs are scarce and dont pay too well unless your living in san juan. rent is pretty high there but if you dont mind jus getting by then go for it...i sure wouldnt mind living there, beaches weather women...its all good lol...but if you wanna live in the city id prolly go wit san juan or old san juan...lots of other cities in the metro area like bayamon, carolina, rio piedras, but san juan is the top one...also there is ponce in the southern part of the island which is also very nice...not as big as san juan tho...also mayaguez in the western part is a big city and caguas in the eastern central part of the island is big..the rural areas are nice and quiet to live in...lots of mountain roads. very curvy and steep.kinda scary sometimes... o and you should kno spanish cuz a lot of ppl dont speak english...but all in all if i had the chance to move there i would...cuz u can always come back if you dont like it...personally i think its one of the greatest places in the world not to many places like it.
Yes, definitely know at least some espanol. San Juan certainly has great nightlife, but if you decide to go ahead and make the leap, I'd try spending some time in the outlying areas as well. Living in San Juan seems similar to city living in the US, but you'll expand your cultural experience considerably once you've tried country living in PR.
Advice: Get a job, check local newspapers or TV channels news departments.
Best cities: Around the San Juan metropolitan area:
* San Juan
* Bayamè´¸n
* Guaynabo
* Carolina
