What tips or advice could you give to students taking Algebra for the first time,?

what would you share with them? What tips or advice could you give to students taking Algebra for the first time,?
bless you, lol--I hated algebra and math in general. If you don't understand it in class, seek help outside of class--from a teacher, a tutor, a classmate, anyone who knows what they are talking about. You just want to be out of there as soon as possible. Good luck to you :) I'm sure you'll be alright. What tips or advice could you give to students taking Algebra for the first time,?
The most important thing to remember, is that you can do it. Believing in yourself is a key component of your success. And, if you are having trouble, don't feel it is a sign of weakness. Nearly everyone experiences some level of frustration when learning new mathematical concepts.

Feel comfortable asking questions (your teachers WANT you to ask questions), work diligently to complete all of your work, and finally, when you do make mistakes, analyze them and learn from them.

Even some of the best mathematicians in history have made many errors while learning about new concepts. In fact, some of the most important mathematical ideas of our times were discovered 'by accident' when mathematicians had made errors in their work.

Good luck!
Study, study, study. Most of your classmates won't. And when you can solve problems your classmates can't, you will be empowered.

Algebra 1 is the foundation for all of the math courses you will take. Do a good job here and the next courses will be easier.

.
I'm an experienced tutor and a beginning teacher, and one way I've always tackled it is to tell my students that they've been doing algebra for as long as they have been doing maths - they've just never called it that.

When you started learning addition, you'd come across stuff like 6 + 7 = ____. Later, you would have seen stuff like 6 + ____ = 13. Now, you'll see 6 + x = 13. It's all the same, just the notation changes.
If u r not catching on then get a tutor or at least a study partner.
Don't try at all.
Invest in a TI-83 or TI-84 graphing calculator becuase you will need one desperately the further you get inAlgebra
There is no need to be tensed. The most important thing to do is to be very very careful while solving the sums. You should concentrate on the question which you are doing and do daily study. If you study regularly your formulas and examples then there is no need of a tutor. But be sure to clear your doubhts with your teacher. The teacher will surely feel delighted when you ask him\her your doubt. As time moves on maths will definitely become your favorite subject.

Best of luck!
