I want to live and work in Paris but dont speak much French, what advice would you give?

I'm recently out of University and I currently want to live and work in Paris, however I dont speak much French as I'm English, however I am willing to learn more. What advice would you give and do you know any organisations that may be able to help?

I'm employed here in England but my parents have a house in Southern France, I recently spent a week there and the whole experience has made me want to live there permanantly.

So what would be the best job for me to pick up French quickly and to adapt to a life in Paris?I want to live and work in Paris but dont speak much French, what advice would you give?
If you're living in England you might want to look into the Alliance Francaise. They're all over the world and teach French the conversational way - not the traditional text book way. Of course there'sa huge Alliance in Paris but there are so many resources in Paris for learning the language. One is called WICE http://www.wice-paris.org/ but if you picked up a copy of FUSAC (France USA Contacts) http://www.fusac.fr/en/ there are untold numbers of individuals who teach as well as class settings.I want to live and work in Paris but dont speak much French, what advice would you give?
um. Unemployment is pretty high in France and in any case they give priority to French people, then Europeans, then people of other nationalities.

To work there you need to have a skill and they will decide if you are needed. Even if you have a skill you might not get in if there are French people who can do the job. Your chances are slim to none. Sorry.

Spend as much time as you can at your parents house and talk with the people. Immersion is the best way to learn a language.
First identify the line of work you are interested in and then try to learn French as fast as possible. France is not a rude country as some provincial people might lead you to believe. It is only rude for one to go to a country without respecting its culture and language.

Good luck!
The obvious : get a girlfriend ! Always works best !
go to you library and get the self teaching tapes for French....
You can go there and try to work for the summer as a waiter or as a sport-instructor (check on http://www.anpe.fr, national job agency).

Or you can go there and contact the ';Alliance Fran莽aise'; so that they give you information on how to get French lessons while you're there.
Try getting a job in a restaurant, that will make you learn very quickly. Also buy a french language learning CD that comes with a work book. Good luck!
Buy a cd rom that teches you french.
Learn the language. Many people in France and Europe as a whole speak a few languages and many of them speak English enough to be understood. You French will sound the same to them but you will learn by speaking it. Get some CD's and an English/French dictionary and then go stay with you folks for awhile. Talk to people. Study to build a vocabulary but talking to people and listening to them will be the best way to learn. Best of Luck with living your dream
Yes I do,

move and live in a country that is civilized, france is a crude rude country
Try this:

my advice is to learn french. take some night school to learn it. hire a private tutor. do what ever it is u need to do before u go to live in a country that the primary language is french. the pimsler learning program is an excellent way to pick some up. if u have good credientials i would recomend learning french first then going to live over there. you will not make much money unless u can find a place that hires people who only speak english. discuss it with your parents. perhaps they can help u follow ur dream good luck
There is nothing we can't learn, and the more you teach yourself the quicker you learn.

How quickly do you want to speak French?

Well, what ya waiting for, in three months time you COULD BE speaking pretty damn good french-IF YA WANT TO THAT IS ;););)

THE MORE YOU LEARN, THE QUICKER YOU LEARN IT!
go to class.
Ehehhe..What a question.!! The only reasonable thing you might do is to start learning scrupulously French ..what remedy you deem else if you really intend to go and live there?? Why you need a job right now when your parents even has a house in Southern France..hahh Well, then why you don't invite me to join you in your future stay in France..
