Hi! I bought a Cozy space heater for one of my rental units several years ago and when we took the old one out, there was black charred wood behind it. It almost burned the house down. Don't remember the brand name of that one. Then a few years after we got the Cozy space heater, I think it burned out the wiring it came with as the electrician put in new wiring. It seemed not to work all that well, but it could have been the thermostat or the wiring to the thermostat even though we changed that out. It doesn't work now and I don't know why.
It is now maybe ten years later and I was thinking of just buying a new unit. This unit is about a foot by a foot and seven feet tall. What would you do?Can you give me some advice on space heaters? Good brands? longevity?
Your better off going with a professional HVAC contractor on this.
Not only do you have to worry about fire hazards, you must also think about carbon monoxide.
Get 3 or 4 estimates.
Throw out the high and low, and choose the one you like best that has the best references.
You may also want to check with your gas supplier.
They can recommend a good contractor also.
Good LuckCan you give me some advice on space heaters? Good brands? longevity?
Empire makes good wall furnaces. There are several manfacturers out there. Whatever you buy make sure the unit is UL, AGA, or CGA listed.
Here is the empire website.
