I like to make postcards by joining two same-size pieces of paper together so that they form basically one card. Obviously the adhesive I use will have to be strong, and I would especially not want the edges to come apart after they have been joined. What adhesive do you recommend for this application?Scrapbookers/card makers, could you give me some adhesive advice?
I make a lot of regular cards in invitations, where I do not want a layer to come apart I have found that Mono Adhesive, Permanent Applicator, Refillable or Mono Aqua Liquid Glue work the best. The first is like a tape the second it a glue, I choose depending on how heavy the paper/stock is I am using. If the paper is thinner the Liquid Glue is not a good choice as it can ';wave'; the paper. Both have play time for repositioning but become permant in 24 - 72 hours.Scrapbookers/card makers, could you give me some adhesive advice?
Why do yu want to do this? You should just purchase cardstock (it's heavier paper) and cut it to the postcard size. This will go through the mail machines just fine, I do it all the time. If you glue regular paper together, you will have separation at the edges and it will likely end-up rippled and torn when and IF it gets to it's destination.
I would use acid free double sided tape.
I would overlap the two pieces of paper, not just have them butt up next to each other.
glue dots
glue lines
sticky dots adhesive (comes in sheets)
spray adhesive (available in can and works great)
I use the Duck brand EasyStick Permanent Adhesive. It holds pretty much everything, except maybe metal and you can get metal glue for that. I have tried a lot of adhesives and have found Duck to be the best. You can buy it at Walmart; if it's not in the scrapbooking section, look in the office supply section. HTH!
